On viewPart of the series 9/11 Stacks , this print depicts stacks of the newspaper Die Berliner Zeitung published in the days immediately following the World Trade Center attacks of 2001. In addition to creating a conceptual meditation on the monotony of the news cycle, the side-by-side comparison of the paper from one day to the next shows the rapid reduction in scale of the front-page images of the attacks. The work addresses the inadequacy of mass-produced grainy images to memorialize the lives lost and to convey the scale of the event. Using a large format, the artist isolates two stacks in each work, reminiscent of the Twin Towers.
