Untitled (Two Days in Stockholm)

Following a two-day site visit in preparation for Ondak’s exhibition at the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, he invited friends and relatives to depict places and individuals he encountered in the city based on his descriptions. Created in Slovakia by participants who had never been to Stockholm, the effect is somewhat like the game “telephone,” emphasizing the malleability of memories and the role of interpretation, or misinterpretation, when they are shared with others. This work transforms a personal recollection into a collective projection that exists between reality and fantasy.
