In 1992, Lavadour and Phillip Cash Cash (Cayuse and Nez Perce) founded Crow’s Shadow Institute of the Arts on the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation in Oregon. Crow’s Shadow is a fine art printmaking studio and educational center that creates opportunities for Native American artists. The Zirinskys have been major supporters of Crow’s Shadow and most of the works by Indigenous artists on view in this exhibition were produced during Crow’s Shadow residencies.
