Provenance"M. de Saint-Julien," possibly Baron de Saint-Julien(?).¹ ( Shickman Gallery, New York); purchased 1975 by Allen Memorial Art Museum, Oberlin, OH ¹ His sale on 21 March 1784 featured six paintings by Lagrenee, none of which correspond to the work in the Allen's collection. There was a sale of his collection on June 21, 1784. The catalogue of this sale includes two paintings by Lagrenee ("L'adoration des Rois" and "Le Christ en croix") neither of which have descriptions that match the painting in the Allen's collection. Similarly, his sale on 14 February 1785 includes a painting by Lagrenee ("Les Noces de Cana") that does not have a description that matches the painting in the Allen's collection.Exhibition History
