On viewHarrison’s work draws from a wide range of influences, wittily combining art history and contemporary culture. Although primarily working with sculpture, this digital collage maintains Harrison’s searing humor in a two-dimensional work. She responds to a newspaper article that boasts of an art prize honoring artists under the age of 35. The news image shows a grid of six cisgender heterosexual men. Harrison titles her gender-bending collage “What the World Needs Now” and adds makeup and a diversity of feminine hairstyles to the men’s presentations, along with playful pastel colors that appear throughout her oeuvre.
